    Training session in Bamako on manuscripts’ conservation and cataloguing kicks off

    Today Morning in Bamako, Republic of Mali, the national training session on the conservation and cataloguing of manuscripts kicked off. The session is co-held by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Ahmed Baba Institute for Higher Studies and Islamic Research (IHERI-ABT), in coordination with Sinnar Regional Center for Dialogue and Cultural Diversity.

    At the opening session, addresses were delivered by Ms Asiatou Konaté, representative of the Malian Ministry of Innovation and Scientific Research; Ms Khadija Maïga, Secretary General of the Malian National Commission; Dr Mohamed Ali Jakaiti, the Institute’s Director General; and Dr Mustapha Ahmed Ali, Director of Sinnar Regional Center for Dialogue and Cultural Diversity, ISESCO’s representative.

    On this occasion, ISESCO presented the Institute with computer and electronic equipment with the aim of boosting the capacities of its staff in the fields of maintenance, archiving, cataloguing and photocopying. The opening session brought together several representatives of international organizations concerned and media outlets.

    It is worth noting that this four-day training session is held as part of ISESCO’s activities on the occasion of proclaiming 2019 a Year of Heritage in the Islamic World.
