    Today morning, at ISESCO headquarters in Rabat, the 10th Meeting of ISESCO Archaeology Experts Committee in charge of preparing technical reports on the Israeli aggressions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity kicked off.

    In his speech, read by Dr. Amina Al Hajri, Deputy Director General, Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General, said that ISESCO is fully aware of the challenges and risks besetting the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity, and the aggressions perpetrated by extremist settlers, calling upon the Arab and Islamic worlds to counter these incessant violations and provide further support and assistance to the people of Palestine and sustain their resistance.

    Dr. Altwaijri also reaffirmed ISESCO’s determination to continue its support for the programmes and activities aiming at preserving the cultural, civilizational and humanitarian heritage of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and protecting its Islamic sanctities and exposing the Israeli practices against it.

    In the same vein, Mrs. Layali Othman, coordinator of the technical team of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, commended the efforts exerted by ISESCO and thanked its Director General for the sustained support he extends to the Palestinians and to Al-Quds Al-Sharif. She also praised the efforts deployed by the members of ISESCO Archaeology Experts Committee in charge of preparing technical reports on the Israeli aggressions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity.

    In addition, she called upon all the countries to contribute as much as possible to the preservation of the Arab and Islamic identity of the city of Al-Quds and protect its Islamic and Christian sanctities. She also hailed “Al-Quds Call” launched on 30 March 2019 in Rabat by his Majesty King Mohamed VI of Morocco and His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Roman Catholic Church, which calls for preserving the special character of the City of Al-Quds as a multi-faith city and common human heritage.

    This meeting gathered members of the Committee, the representatives of Palestine, Jordan and Egypt; a representative of Bayt Al-Maal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency; and the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Information.

    The agenda of the meeting featured the presentation and examination of the technical report. The meeting is due to continue tomorrow 4 April 2019 to further discuss the report and approve the final report and recommendations.
