    “Meshkat Arabic Hall” Hosts Workshop for Teachers from Five Asian countries

    As part of the pilot phase of the action program of ICESCO-Hamdan Bin Rashed Network Meshkat for Educational Excellence Capacities in the field of Arabic for Non-Arabic Speakers, the Meshkat Arabic Hall at the Headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) hosted a workshop on “Complementarity of the four language skills in teaching Arabic for non-Arabic speakers.”

    The workshop was held both face-to-face and via videoconference, on Thursday, June 23, 2022, and saw the participation of five groups of national education officials working in the field of Arabic from the ICESCO Educational Center in Malaysia, Ahmad Dahlan University in Yogyakarta in Indonesia, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan in Tashkent in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the Russian Islamic University in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan in the Russia Federation.


    The workshop was also attended virtually by educators in different countries, namely Djibouti, Nigeria, Thailand, Egypt, Russia and Benin. Attendees at ICESCO Headquarters included a host of researchers and young teachers of Arabic for non-Arabic speakers from Morocco and Indonesia.

    The workshop was moderated by the international training expert, Dr. Samir Jaafar, and benefited 170 educators. It aimed at helping participants achieve complementarity of education practices in teaching the various Arabic subjects to provide students with the opportunity to build their four language skills and be proficient in Arabic writing, reading, speaking and listening.
